DAY 36 - BEAUTIFUL, BC

THE LAST DAY OF THE TASK AROUND TOUR 2008. The tour actually ended a few days ago but I took my time with the last few updates because I didn’t want it to end, I hope you understand.

We woke up in Invemere, BC. After a quick breakfast we went to the local skate park which was too perfect and normal to even bother skating. Knowing we had lots of driving ahead, we decided to get on the road. The first stop was….. a skate park.

Me, AKA Uncle Leo getting straight to business with a 180 over the biggest gap at the park. Meantime Jimmy Key is being grumpy and drinking his warm 6 pack to wake up.

.

Landing the gap was no problem for me but my stupid belt couldn’t handle it. I have never seen a “leather” belt rip right in the middle …… cheap rollerblading companies. The reason I used the belt was because the button of my pants fell off earlier in the tour from just swimming. Again cheap rollerblading product.

.

I was too juiced to get a different belt or change my pants, so I just did a 540 with my pants falling off. True bad ass. TASK WHAT !!!

.

Landing the drop followed with my shorts dropping…… cheap gear.

.

Ron Mac AKA Todd had to show me who’s boss with this huge zero spin shifty like only Todd can.

.

Even though we got a perfect clip and a perfect pic first try. I made Todd do it 5 more times to get more perfect clips and pics. Surprisingly his frame broke.

Here is another one of Todd’s perfect pics.

.

The kids at the park were arguing who is better, Uncle Leo or Ron Mac. We both skated very good, so the kids had to fight it off.

.

It was very hot and everyone had their T-shirts off but I wanted to be different so I took my shorts off. As you can see I had some hot Canadian boxers that Eli bought for me in Banff.

Bank to soul.

.

After this hot session We drove all day through beautiful British Columbia. Todd was driving while I was color correcting pictures for the tour update. We stopped at Castlegar, BC for a quick bite to eat and a not so quick tour update. When we got out of the restaurant it was nearing sunset. We asked the waitress if they had a skate park in town and lucky for us there was an amazing park 2 blocks away.

I have to say that Todd killed that park with his broken frame. He got some amazing clips but his tricks were way too advanced for pictures. Thats where I come in handy with a normal trick.

Straight air into the bank followed by 2 royales full speed. The line on video is much better than it sounds.

.

Jimmy Key being the superstar that he is had to get the last trick of the tour.

Jimmy roll to mute almost killing me on his landing.

.

After the session we decided to drive all the way to the city of StevieE… Kelowna, BC. StevieE was very excited about the fact that we were coming so he was drinking all day. We arrived at his house at 3 AM. StevieE was no where to be found…. he didn’t answer his door buzzer or his phone AKA he got way too HYPHY and passed out. He didn’t leave us much choice but to drive another 2 hours to Kamloops, BC.

Jimmy Key is about to go back to his own bed after a month of touring….LUCKY

.

Todd was another lucky guy. His girlfriend Carly was visiting her parents in Kamloops for the weekend, so he didn’t have to endure another 3 hours of drive back to Vancouver.

.

After 20 hours of driving and 38 days of touring Mr. and Ms. Shop-Task are back home and will be sleeping for the next few days.

.

So this is it for the TASK AROUND TOUR 2008, I hope you all enjoyed the daily updates. The blog will stay up and it will have a permanent link from the main page of www.SHOP-TASK.com. We captured a ridiculous amount of footage and will be producing a DVD.

I want to thank everyone that was a part of this unforgettable journey across our country. I would love to mention everyones names but out of the 300-400 people that I have met and skated with on the way I would definitely miss a few.

SHOP-TASK’s purpose is to unite all Canadian skaters and make our scene bigger and stronger than ever. TASK AROUND is one of the biggest and most effective steps in this direction. Thank you all for supporting Shop-Task and making it possible.

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR….. TASK WHAT!!!

DAY 35 - BANFF, AB

We woke up in Calgary and met everyone at Randy’s place around noon. Leon and I stayed at a hotel last night because I got really sick and didn’t want to infect everyone. We all drove to Cochrane skatepark just outside of Calgary for a hot and sunny day of skating.

.

Ron Mac - 540 over the table with his legs crossed

.

Leon Bunsky - hopping this straight air to rock then 180 to flat.

.

Carson pretty much joined our tour for the 3 days we were in Calgary. He skated and took lots of pictures. Here he is busting a hot true mizou on his last day. Who’s in charge of giving out the StevieDVD here? How come he didn’t get one?

.

Dale getting dirty for the camera.

.

Dale - late fakie 360

.

Afterwards we followed Tommy D and Goss to the Banff skatepark only to find it closed and in the midst of construction. The boys snuck in anyways and got a few clips and pictures before they got kicked out. Todd - transfer with his legs crossed again

.

After a nice meal, we wanted to leave Banff but Todd didn’t want to go without getting a clip. Todd - full speed to stump to gap over fence.

.

Another angle of another cross legged air.

.

Bunsky and I, tired of seeing another one of Todd Mac’s cross legged kicks.

.

Tomorrow is the last day of the tour. We will be driving through Beautiful BC and skating some amazing spots as always.
